(Technically, Pleasant Plains and Schultzville are in the town of Clinton. Layfayetteville is in the town of Milan. Both are often considered “extensions” of Rhinebeck.) See the 1858 showing the town delinations here: Map of Dutchess Co., New York : from actual surveys – Copy 1 | Library of Congress (loc.gov)

Pleasant Plains, NY

This is just off of 9G/Hollow Rd, at the intersection of Creek Rd. Map Link.

Here is another card of the same mill, postmarked 1914:

Below story from the 1978 Yearbook of the Dutchess Co. Historical Society of the old mill. The 1858 Gillette Map of Dutchess Co., excerpted below for Pleasant Plains, shows above mill (GM) and a sawmill (SM) upstream (far left). Creek Rd. appears to be main thoroughfare back in the day (9G didn’t exist yet).

More on the mill in the 1918 Dutchess County Yearbook (the yearbooks are online and can be found on the DCHS website):

Schultzville, NY

Schultzville is off of Fiddler’s Bridge Rd (which is off of Hollow Rd). Map Link. See also the MRH Collection (tab above) for a few more Schultzville cards.

The “new” picture below is 2012 (what we all know it as); it is no longer called the General Store. Today it stands as the “Golden Russet” cafe.

Before After

The parsonage is just up Centre Rd (Rt.18) from the general store. A post card of the church is in the MRH collection.
